Building a Spiritual Atmosphere that is Free from Fear 2

One of the greatest fear in the church is the ‘fear of commitment’—because many are afraid to fail, to get hurt by the people, even be rejected! Don’t you know that many blessings are withheld because of your lack of commitment!

Fear  is an unpleasant feeling of anxiety or apprehension caused by the presence or anticipation of danger. A frightening thought or an idea that causes feelings of irrational fears . Fear came from the Old English word “calamity or danger”. Fear is to worry, it’s a concern about something that threatens to bring bad news or bad results. Being  afraid means to be frightened of somebody or something or afraid of taking action . To be afraid or to fear is an emotion that you think is protecting us from the threats in our surroundings. It’s an emotion that every member of society deals with throughout their lives. But let me   tell you the truth about fear:

Rom 8:15  For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

Fear is not an emotion, it is a spirit! It’s a spirit that did not come from God but from the devil!

2 Tim 1:7  For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Timidity means to be fearful, to be shy, to lack courage, to be hesitant! The spirit of fear will hinder you from doing the will of God so you will commit sin—sin means to miss the mark, to not do the will of God for you!

How does fear enter into a person’s life? There are three ways:

1. The Corruption Of The Human Heart

2. Absence Of Authority

3. The Imagination Of Men

Many Christians today are part of the Church the Body of Christ, but not many can become a part of “The Army of God”; They are not willing to lose their lives for the sake of the Gospel because of ‘fear’! Losing your life does not only mean martyrdom; it means dying to self for the Glory of God!

Eph 6:10-12 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

Eph 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Faith is our shield to repel any fear that the enemy may throw at us, but it seems that so many use their faith only to get the good things that God has to offer, but not to be in His last days army.

10 kinds of fear

FEAR OF LOSING YOUR FREEDOM

FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

FEAR OF PAIN

FEAR OF DISAPPOINTMENT

FEAR OF MISERY AND BETRAYAL

FEAR OF LONELINESS

FEAR OF RIDICULE

FEAR OF REJECTION

FEAR OF FAILURE

FEAR OF DEATH

Fear causes the people to hide their God given talents and gifts, fear turns them off! Fear makes you concerned only about yourself– you focus only on your reputation, on what people would say and that’s why all your efforts are focused only on you–SELFY! Whether conscious or unconscious, fear tells your brain that there is danger; the possibility of being alone, be rejected, be disappointed, be ridiculed, be betrayed, to fail, even to lose honor and prestige–and most of these fears are not directed to your physical  body, but to your ‘EGO!’ If we would focus more on God and less to ourselves, we will have more impact!

EGO-Self-esteem: somebody's idea of his or her own importance or worth inflated opinion of self: an exaggerated sense of self-importance and a feeling of superiority to other people – EGO IS SELF !

Matt 25:24-25  24 "Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.

Matt 25:28-30  28 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

“Darkness” can only mean hell! He missed the purposes of God for him by hiding what God had given him, he did not use it to follow the pattern of God for his life—he committed sin because of ‘fear’!

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin is the Hebrew word chata' (khaw-taw') which when translated to English means To miss the purpose and the pattern of God for you, hence (figuratively and generally) to sin; to forfeit, to lack, (causatively) to be lead astray. To miss the mark; to miss your assignment.

One of the greatest fear in the church is the ‘fear of commitment’—because many are afraid to fail, to get hurt by the people, even be rejected! Don’t you know that many blessings are withheld because of your lack of commitment! Truth is, most of the messages we hear in the church affect mostly only those who are committed because they are the ones who persevere to obey and are even willing to make the sacrifices! Any blessing promised is released only thru obedience, and so it will never be yours till you commit—only the committed really obey! Without commitment, you cannot sustain your marriage, ministry, assignment, purpose, business, and any relationship that you may have!

What do you think is the first fear that God has to deliver you from? THE FEAR OF YOURSELF! You are afraid to lift up your hands, to dance, to look like a fool, to cry in worship…

The Second Fear Is: THE FEAR OF PEOPLE!

But really? It doesn’t matter, why? Because the people don’t really care anyway—if you are dead to yourself, you don’t care what they say! If you are committed, even if you are ridiculed you are committed—you still give your time, talent, treasure, you are willing to make sacrifices—then and only then will the true blessings flow!

Rom 8:15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage  again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption (sonship), whereby we cry, Abba, Father. KJV

Bondage is slavery and when you fear, you are in bondage—mental, emotional, even spiritual, it affects your whole being, even destroys you! This bondage can never be set free by psychology nor by psychiatry, but only by experiencing the perfect love of the Father! When we are afraid or in fear we cry, as in a panic! But when we are set free we cry to our Father, because we know that we are sons and daughters of God!

GOD IS COMMITTED TO YOU—  YOU NEED NOT FEAR!

1 John 4:18  There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment (torment-KJV).

The one who fears is not made perfect in love. The person who lives in fear lives in torment, like you are being punished everyday that there is fear! But we can be released, truth is fear should have no hold on us for we have been redeemed by the Blood of Jesus, we are under the blood!

Rev 12:10-11  They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

How do you release the power of the blood of Jesus? You speak it, you testify, you bear witness! Without the blood of Jesus, even if you recite 1 John 4:18  “Gods perfect love”, nothing seem to  happen; but when you appropriate the blood; THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD! The Blood of Jesus destroys torment and releases His peace, the Blood of Jesus releases boldness to testify and make you unashamed of the Gospel!

The Enemy Of Peace Is Fear!

The enemy of faith is fear!

The enemy of hope is fear!

The enemy of love is fear!

The enemy of boldness is fear!

Satan is the personification of fear—  and he is already defeated!

His only power is deception—if you believe him, then you are trapped—then you will be in fear! Rise up, stand up, shape up, your redemption draweth nig
