The Purpose in Your Heart

When you have purposed to do something in your life, even when trials come, it should not be a problem because you have already decided, even if you are thrown into the lion’s den!

by Pastor Ovet Tamayo

The wealth of the world is already out there – there is untold wealth in this world, unbelievable amounts of wealth we cannot even imagine! The Word of God teaches us that “the wealth of the wicked will be transferred into the hands of the righteous!” These transfers did not happen all the time, and throughout history, there were only particular times that this had occurred – I believe that we are coming to that particular time once again!  If all that money is to be transferred to us, we need to have the faith to believe it, and we must do the works to get it!

In these last days, our call is to preach the gospel to all the world – its missions month – and you cannot do that without money!  Faith alone would not be enough to carry out the Lords work, you need money and you need to do something so that that money will be attracted to you, James said that “faith without works is dead!”

2 Cor 9:7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly (unwilling) or under compulsion (be forced), for God loves a cheerful (hilarious, joyful) giver.

One of the works that God requires of us in the last days is ‘giving,’ ‘cheerful giving!’ There is one immutable universal law which God has given for all of us to observe in order for us to move into Gods financial system and transference of wealth; THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING!

2 Cor 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Cheerful giving results in the abundant grace of God for you, so that in all things at all times, you will abound – exceedingly more than you could ever ask or imagine!  IT IS ALL BY THE GRACE OF GOD!

2 Cor 9:7  7 Each man should give what he has decided  in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. NIV.. So let each one give as he purposes  in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. NKJV

The word purpose is the Greek word ‘proaireomai’,  which when translated in English means to be in front; to establish and make it a priority; commitment; a decision in your heart, its non-negotiable. If we are to fulfill the mandate of God for us in these last days, we must be in for the long haul because it’s not an overnight thing! Things will not work out for us until giving becomes a way of life – the way we think and act, we must learn to purpose it in our hearts. God must be able to trust you with His finances; giving is a lifetime commitment!

Acts 11:23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all, that with purpose of heart  they should continue with the Lord. NKJV

Ps 17:3 You have tested my heart;  You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed  that my mouth shall not transgress. NKJV

As a Christian, we either live by preference or by conviction – one of this two things will guide your life and direct which path you will take, and where you will be five years or ten years from now! Preference are the things we like better, we choose them because they are the things that pleases us; Conviction is the firmness of your belief; it is what God requires from all of us! Conviction or preference are powerful control mechanisms, your destiny is controlled by them, your way of life is controlled by them!

 How Do You Live?

  • Preference Or Conviction?

  • By The Things You Like Or By What The Lord Desires From You?

Daniel is a powerful example of a man who lived by conviction and how he had shaped his destiny, and how he had influenced an entire nation by that conviction!

Dan 1:3-4 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility - 4 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.

From the verse we learned that Daniel was of Royal birth, as all who were taken in by the Kings men, they were  all nobility, and very handsome! Study shows that their age may have been no more than 17 to 18 years; what came of their parents are unknown, but they have probably been killed during the war, or taken captives also. They were living in a most hostile environment, the Babylonians kill without mercy; the people practiced occultism, the government was guided by the occult; Yet in the midst of it, Daniel prospered to become the head of the entire province of Babylon, and he even became very wealthy and influential!

Dan 2:48-49 Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. 49 Moreover, at Daniel's request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court.

 Daniel survived three Kings, Nebuchadnezzar, Darius, and Cyrus – they came and went, but Daniel was still there, his life was a prophetic parallel of the end times, just like you and me. Their life was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah;

2 Kings 20:16-18 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the Lord: 17 The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the Lord. 18 And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, that will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon."

How did Daniel survive and even flourished during those trying years, what was the key to his success? The ‘key’ to his success can be found in the first chapter of the book of Daniel:

Dan 1:8-9 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God had brought Daniel into the favor  and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.

He had a choice, he can either live by preference or conviction; he chose not to defile himself, but to live by his faith and his convictions! If you are a prisoner in a very hostile environment, you don’t want to start trouble, many would most probably do as everyone does because you know there will be no one to help you, and everyone is doing it anyway! But they purposed  to live by their convictions, what is right before their God no matter what!

When you choose to live by the ‘standard of God’ for your life, His favor will be upon you, and that decision shaped the life and destiny of Daniel and those who walked like him!

We Need More People Like Daniel In The Church Today!

The problem in the church today is, many want to be blessed, they want the favor of God in their lives, in their families, in their businesses,  but they live a life of preference! Many lower the standards of God, because we believe that we are saved! You may be saved, but God cannot use you as an end-time carrier of His finances for the simple reason that God cannot trust you! If you will purpose  in your heart to do what is right before our God, He will begin to prosper you and use you mightily as a financier of His work today – a ‘Don’  in the eyes of God!

Dan 3:1 and 4-6  King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high and nine feet wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 4 Then the herald loudly proclaimed, "This is what you are commanded to do, O peoples, nations and men of every language: 5 As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.  6 Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately  be thrown into a blazing furnace."

That word, immediately, could make many shrivel in their spine, and cause such a panic that they would clean their ears so they can hear the sound of flute right away! Any sign of rebellion will be dealt with immediately – off with your head! Isis brutality, and there was no one to defend them, matter of fact, they were being singled out! But none of this was a crisis for Daniel, Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednigo –They have already purposed  in their hearts not to defile themselves, nor bow down to any other god, come what may, even if it meant death!

Dan 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

When you have purposed to do something in your life, even when trials come, it should not be a problem because you have already decided, even if you are thrown into the lion’s den!

Dan 3:19-20 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter  than usual 20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace.

In these last days, the devil will send his strongest attacks, seven times more intense to discourage and deceive even the elect if that was possible – it will be seven times hotter! But for the children of God who have purposed in their hearts  to live their convictions, the light of God will also shine seven times brighter that would dispel any darkness the enemy may bring!

Heb 11:32-34 And what more shall I say?  I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.

Think of the people who had made a decision in their hearts to obey their God: Billy Graham, Benny Hinn, Myles Munroe, TD Jakes, Bill Hamon, Hal Lindsay…Other less popular as Dutch Sheets, Francis Frangipane, John Paul Jackson, John Bevere, Leon Fontaine, and the likes! They never turned back, they have purposed in their hearts to do the will of God, no matter what, and they all helped shape the future of all of us!

Heb 11:35-38  Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. 36 Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. 37 They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— 38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.

There are the nameless-faceless people who went to China, the middle east, to those access restricted nations and suffered persecutions, torture, and even death! YET THEY NEVER TURNED BACK!

They have purposed in their hearts to do the will of God, to live by their convictions rather than by their preference! “IKAW(You)? Do You Live By Preference Or Conviction?” If you live by preference, your life will never amount to anything – your destiny will never be fulfilled; you may earn money, but money will never make you happy, the fulfillment of your destiny will, the giving of your life! Why can’t people live by their convictions even when they already know the Lord? In our zeal for freedom and liberty, in our desire to bring people to the church, we have compromised and eroded our standards – even the standards of God! Our way of living, the clothes we wear, the relationships we choose, the fashion we promote; tattoo, male earrings, jorti  jorts… The standards of God has its roots in God’s Word, and it is not negotiable! The little things have made many to compromise, to live by their preference, everybody is doing it anyway!

Ps 17:3 Though you probe my heart  and examine me at night, though you test me,  you will find nothing;  I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.

Often, we erode Gods standard by the words we speak – criticism, gossip, back biting…God Hates Gossip! Many times, it’s the little things that causes us to compromise, we are so naïve to think that the little things won’t hurt us, it’s the other way around, they bring us to the big things! When it comes to finance, we need to purpose in our hearts that what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong – that has to be your way of life, not overnight but for the long haul! What you purpose in your heart is your priority, it is not negotiable!

2 Cor 9:7-8  So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. NKJV

Place your hand over your heart. That’s called PURPOSE. You’re alive for a reason. Don’t forget it.
