Graduation Day - Passing the Test

If you flunk the test you will take it again, you will go around the mountain again; if you flunk it again, God is gracious He will let you take it again, but because we are the final generation, we don’t know if there is still another chance!

 by Pastor Ovet Tamayo

Death is a graduation for many of us, many would experience this in this lifetime, but I believe more will not! Death is not the end of life as we know it, but it is a graduation that opens the door not for greater opportunities, but the door for greater realities. God expects all His children to graduate with flying colors and high grades; flunkers will be dealt with severely as the time is short for recovery classes. God will give us another chance, but we don’t know if this will be the last!

God is ready to call us to make an account even now – an account for your money, marriage, family, church, ministry,  business, etc. God comes to check and probe our hearts and our motives why do we do, what we do? We need to ask ourselves, what have we done with what God has given us, it is important that we graduate! If it is God you seek, then it is God you will find; if you were hungry for God, you would have been transformed – you are not the same person as you were before because you had dealt with your heart! God has set His plumb line, and to everyone who will pass this examination, God will let them go up the stage to receive their diploma – If you change your heart, you change your life!

Acts 20:23-24 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race  and complete the task  the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course  with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. KJV

In these verses Paul talks about a race and a task (NIV), but in the King James, he talks about a course and a ministry. We will not be able to do what we were called to do if we do not know what it is. Right?

Many will say “I’m here to serve God, be a pastor, a missionary, an intercessor” – still others may say “I’m here to be a Christian businessman, or doctor, an architect, or a teacher for God!” We need to understand – all of these are not the main reason why we are here, they are all secondary!

How we do in the primary ministry that we were called, will determine how we will do in our secondary ministry here on earth; We will fail in our purpose if we interchange race and task, course and ministry.

1 Cor 9:24  Do you not know that those who run in a race  all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

2 Tim 4:7  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. NKJV

What is this race or course that Paul is talking about, how is it different from the task and the ministry?

In God’s point of view, planet earth is His university for training the sons and daughters for them to graduate with honors so they will be ready to face the real life – eternity! When you enroll in a university, there is a course you take (kurso), a race (karera). There are things you need to learn, you will be taught, instructed and trained, and there are tests you have to pass to make sure you have learned the lesson, cheating is impossible! This course or race is not about finishing first, it’s an endurance race – if you finished your course, that means you have crossed the line.

The majority of the people of Israel who came out of Egypt did not finish their course, did not finish the race – they perished in the wilderness! What is the course that God had set for of us?

Rom 8:29  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

All your ministry is secondary, we must all be conformed into the likeness of our Savior, how well we do in the primary will determine how we do in the secondary! The whole planet was designed to be hard enough to produce sons and daughters of God that will conform to His design and purpose – CHRISTLIKENESS!

We are all in a course, we are in the middle of a test – what we learn, we must be able to apply or we will flunk! It is God’s desire that we will be like Him – “mana ako sa Tatay ko!” Like Father like Son! We only get one chance to graduation, we will only live but once, no matter how long that may be, or how many years, it’s still one life! The level of your learning here, the level of our obedience and endurance here, will determine your place in the eternal Kingdom of God – God still desires for a family to rule with Him.

Christianity is all about developing Christ like qualities in us, that’s the main reason why we are here, that’s the main purpose – not just to sing and dance!

Eph 1:4-5  just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, NKJV

The seed  of Christ likeness was planted in us even before we were born, they started manifesting only after you were born again! Your season in God began when you were saved!

Eph 1:9  having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, NKJV

We must prove ourselves worthy and pass the tests and graduate with honors – how do we graduate here will determine our roles in the millions of years to come – yes,  we are still alive by then!

Job 1:8 and 11  Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. 11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

Somewhere in our lives, God lowers the hedge, and the enemy is able to get to you, but God expects us to overcome, if He did it to Job, He will do it to us! If God wants to teach you about faith, He will give you the “shield of faith”, then He will lower the hedge. If God wanted to teach you about righteousness, He will give you the “breastplate of righteousness” before He lowers the hedge, God will never do it before! Job is not a story of tragedy, but of overcoming and great victory – a story of proving ones faith and integrity in the face of much difficulties!

Many teach that when you enter the Kingdom of God all will be well and there will be no more problems – they lied! That’s not how God works, you will face trials, many times you need to lose your rights, but always, we need to lose our lives! It will be hard, but the result is Glorious! Sometimes the attacks are relentless, you get hit and not know what hit you, but just as are starting to pick up, you get hit again…There is the always the tendency to ask why, it’s good to check our hearts for any sin that might have caused it, but then we need to go back into praise and worship of our God!

The period of testing for Job lasted to about nine months – according to bible experts!  Any doctrine that will teach you that you don’t have to go through trials and difficulties is a false doctrine; tests are for the forming of your character – a wilderness to take Egypt out of you!

2 Chron 32:31  But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.

1 Peter 4:12  Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.

Life is meant to be difficult, we are on a very difficult planet where there is evil everywhere – but every time you pass a test, you will have a test-timony, you overcome the devil by your testimony! One test is fear – you can overcome your fear by facing it, God will allow you to face fearful situations; riots, storms, but keep in mind that God is well able to protect you! If you flunk the test you will take it again, you will go around the mountain again; if you flunk it again, God is gracious He will let you take it again, but because we are the final generation, we don’t know if there is still another chance!

If you keep on failing, God could leave you to your own devices – if you don’t overcome your wilderness, God will kill you there! We will have situations where we cannot do anything to control it, we will never learn until we say “Lord, you are in control, my life is in your hands”. Trials come to make life better, to make us more matured in the Lord.

Job 42:12  The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys.

God cannot bless you until we pass the tests!

 Job 42:13-17

And he also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. 15 Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job's daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.  16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.  17 And so he died, old and full of years.

We can appreciate more what the Lord said to the Israelites despite them being in exile:

Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
