Conform vs. Transform

“Transformation happens in the heart through a Supernatural encounter with God, but it begins in your mind!”

by: Pastor Ovet T. Tamayo

Are you depressed? Are you lonely? Do you feel so worthless? Does it feel like the world is so unfair to you? Are you tired of having the same problems again and again?

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthains 3:18 NKJV)

The bible is quite clear that when the eyes of our spirit is open (unveiled), we shall behold His glory; we shall have an encounter with God that would transform our lives. But sadly, many have stagnated and have chosen to be conformed to their present situation today. Whenever a person conforms, it is because he has stopped being transformed, that’s when nothing good is happening in your life and you have stopped expecting for something good to happen.

Whatever you conform to, it becomes your reality. Many have chosen to be conformed to their sickness, to poverty, to loneliness, fear, depression, and doubts. To change or be transformed is very hard for you, for that which you conform to, becomes your reality. Your reality is in the way you think, in what you have chosen to believe, that happens because the Supernatural has lifted away from you, the Presence of God has departed from you or is distant.

The Christian life was never designed to be stagnant, to be in the same place without growth, without increase.

Are you tired of being poor and destitute, always being fearful, always angry, always stressed? You need to come into the presence of God. But many have lived without the presence of God for so long that they don’t miss it anymore, even among many Christians. So they come to church expecting nothing, and so therefore , they get nothing. If you are still the same person when you first came to church, if you still have the same problems, if you still have the same bondage you had before, it only means one thing: The Supernatural Is Not Working In Your Life!

HOW CAN I BE TRANSFORMED? Or rather DO YOU WANT TO BE TRANSFORMED?

Every transformation begins in your mind. Transformation is composed of 2 words; Trans=to be in transition; and Formation=to be developed, to be created. Transformation means to be in transition to be created or be developed while you are being formed into the image of Christ. Transformation happens in the heart through a Supernatural encounter with God, but it begins in your mind. Many have depended on religion for their transformation. Religion has trapped many people into thinking that life would change because they have religion, they are so wrong. Religion cannot transform lives because it offers only replacements for the truth and the power of God. Change is painful, that’s why people don’t like it, the replacements for change makes the people conform. Only the presence of God can bring transformation, only the presence of God can assure us of change, by faith.

As a Christian, we should walk by faith and not by sight; for when you walk by sight that means we are conformed to our environment and to the patterns of this world. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2 NIV) Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will.

For the transformation to become permanent, we need to understand and discern our “thought cycles”. Every thought has a cycle, good or evil , a beginning and an end, these cycles can either be renewed, cancelled or terminated. If you don’t stop the cycle, it will finish what it was called to do, if it is not terminated, you will repeat them again. A cycle can last from 1 day to 60 years, even longer unless something like death intervenes. They just keep on going and going.

The thought patterns or mindset of a child is formed at age 7, thoughts from the parents would have already been passed to them (like being shy, mayabang, walang modo, kuripot, madamot, mahina, etc.) Unless terminated, such thought patterns are still there even when the child has become 60. And many wonder why they have stagnated for so long, its because the cycle remains unhindered. If the mind is not renewed, we repeat the same situations and problems, maybe at a different place or people, but same problem. (People go from one church to another, same problem happens; its not the church who has a problem, its you.) Your thoughts can destroy your destiny, even take you out of the faith. Thoughts come by what you see and what you hear. In this era of the anti-Christ we see it on TV, magazines, music, clothing, etc. These thoughts will come in through the power of suggestion, the enemy will suggest things in your mind that seems cool and in.

A thought is an unspoken word, and it is activated when you speak it (like, “wala na namang pera!”) The enemy will use the media and other people to make the suggestion, “sale sa SM!” All these thoughts become a stronghold when you agree with it, when you speak it, he will use your tongue to confirm to him that you agree with him. (he cant read your mind) He will send the suggestion when you are weak, or to the things where he knows you are weak. You can agree or disagree with the enemy’s suggestion, you can meditate, cooperate, concentrate, even appreciate what he suggests. When demonic thoughts come, rebuke them immediately – don’t entertain them. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23 NKJV) When the evil thought comes, resist by confessing the Word, you need to be filled with the Word.

Many people are not in the church because of a thought. A thought comes that argue with what God wants you to do, an argument in you ensues. All arguments are based on reason, and every reason is based on fallen knowledge, the knowledge that Adam wanted to get from the tree of good and evil! Every reasoning is based on facts so it makes sense because they are based on facts – based on reality. But Truth is a higher reality!

Facts are always changing, but truth never changes. If you are sick in your body or poor in your money, those maybe facts, but before the fact came Truth that says “by His lashes you are healed”; and “He came that you might have abundant life”, more than 2000 years ago, they came, it hasn’t changed. Many people accept the facts, because you have no Word to argue with – the battle rages, facts vs truth and you need to speak the truth, the Word. The devil has the facts but God has the truth! And Truth is a higher reality than facts!

“Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.” (Psalms 51:6 NIV); “Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” (Psalms 86:11 NIV); “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalms 145:18 NIV); and “Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.” (Proverbs 23:23 NIV)
