Harvest in the Year of Rest

IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY, THEN YOU MUST BE WILLING TO DO SOMETHING YOU HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE! LET GO OF YOURSELF! RELEASE! It takes OBEDIENCE! It takes FAITH!  STAY…It is time to be one with Him, let Him rest in you!

OBSERVATION OF THE SHEMITAH

  • Time for the land to be unfarmed/ to rest

  • Year of cancellation of debts for foreigners

  • Freedom for the Hebrew Slaves

  • The produce of the land are for those  who needs them

What is your idea of rest? Rest is found in the presence of God, for He Himself is our peace and safety!

He is Yeshua, He is the Prince of Peace!

Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message) 28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’LL SHOW YOU HOW TO TAKE A REAL REST. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) 28“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

That is God’s picture of rest for us!

REAL REST means WALKING and WORKING in the Lord in the power of His GRACE!

Rest is doing all things with Him, in Him and for Him! It is only by His grace that we can live following His example! Doing things with Him and for Him gives us rest and freedom! That is how the burden of this life is lifted from our shoulders! Other translation of the word  rest in Matthew 11:29 are the words REMAIN and REFRESH! We feel the burden when we do things on our own, weighing us down, making us tired and weary!

Ironically, a lot of people today, even Christians fail to enter His rest. Why?  For many, doing God’s will and staying in His presence make them feel “limited”- from things that they want to do or maybe for what they see as their “pleasure”. Rather than feeling “light”, following God seems like a “heavy” thing.  But the truth is- staying and abiding in God and His will is the real rest! It is the place of release!

Staying and living in Him provides vigor and energy for our weary souls! (backsliders, people who depart from His will- look dry) ( I wonder why we often see surrendered life as a prison!) We need to be “released” from the patterns of this world! (Word  vs  practicality, Word vs “principles”).

The Rich Young Ruler (Matt.19:16-30).

We focus on us more- our needs, wants, the things we give up, the things we do..More than the things that we do for Him, the Lord Himself is the most important. The main reason for obedience  should be to please Him. It’s more than the reward! He is our reward!

  1. ABRAM-ABRAHAM (THE FATHER OF MANY NATIONS),

  2. MOSES (PRINCE OF EGYPT-THE HUMBLEST MAN ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH)

  3. DAVID (THE SHEPHERD BOY-A MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART)

  4. SIMON-PETER (FISHERMAN-FISHER OF MAN)

  5. SAUL-PAUL (THE PERSECUTOR-APOSTLE TO THE GENTILES)

  6. JESUS CHRIST (SON OF GOD-PASSOVER LAMB)

These are notable men of the bible who found the real rest! How did they enter God’s rest? They started with DEPARTURE! They left their comfort  zones and obeyed the Lord! They took their new names and new roles leaving all things behind! Another kind of departure is REPENTANCE! They all took the first step in entering their rest- THEY LEFT THEIR COMFORT ZONES! They found something, SOMEONE  more important! Most of them have flaws, yes! But that did not keep them from staying.. They have allowed themselves to fully submit to His will, His rest!

Were they blessed? Yes! In fact, they were blessed in every way- material and eternal blessings! Obedience to God and staying in His will removed the borders and limitations around them! God can and will do it for you, only if you would be willing and only when you allow Him to!

Matthew 8:20 (NIV) Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.“ (The Cost of Following Jesus)

GOD ALSO RESTED ON THE 7TH DAY!  “klino”- to rest, to recline.God is looking for a place, a person where He could “rest”!

John 12:23-26(NIV) 23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

John 12:23-26 (THE MESSAGE) 23 Jesus answered, “Time’s up. The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24-25 “Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal. 26 “If any of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you’ll be where I am, ready to serve at a moment’s notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me.

Jesus did not fear death, He allowed Himself to “rest” for us to enter the kind of rest that He offers in Matthew 11:28-30! He wants us to experience this rest! When we die to ourselves and when we plant ourselves in Him in humility, we enter that Perfect Rest! -His presence! When we are found planted and living in Him, that is when we produce fruits! Allowing not only us to enjoy the fruits but also the “needy ones”! Jesus allowed the will of God to consume Him so that we may all benefit rest from His rest! His rest produced a harvest that will benefit the whole world! Same it is for us, when we enter His rest we become fruitful! When we stay in the purpose of God in our lives we become a harvest field! Willingness allow us to find comfort in doing His will, making us experience and produce a harvest which is bound to eternity! (men in the bible mentioned above...)

Church...

Are we ready for THE YEAR OF RELEASE? Then it’s time to die to ourselves! It’s time for God to be GLORIFIED and find a resting place in us! His POWER AND GLORY SHOULD BE MANIFESTED IN US!

RESULTS ARE GENERATED BY THE ACTIONS THAT WE MAKE!

The display of God’s glory and grace is seen when His children lose themselves to find Him! Losing ourselves means gaining Him! Remaining in Him makes us produce a bountiful harvest that will affect the lives of people- SPIRITUAL AND MATERIAL! Resting in God means to remain as one with Him and not to become another! It is being who God wants you to be. Desiring and embracing His very plans for your life! That is  REAL REST!

“Sometimes you have to let go, of the life you pictured, in order to have the life that God has planned.”-Pastor John Hagee.
