The Majesty of the Call

That power is like the working of his mighty strength. If the eyes of our hearts are opened, what we see with them will be more real to us than what we see with our physical eyes, and when that happens, we will be focused on the hope of His calling in us! When that becomes the focus of our vision, we will begin to walk in His incomparably great power, and that power dwells within you!

Change is now coming upon the world so fast that the only thing we can count on is change – the question we ask is, should we resist change, or help its course? The answer is both! If we do not resist the changes that we should resist, we will become subject to changes we do not want – the church is faced with the greatest test: How she relates to the world? Those who do not understand the changes that are coming will be swept away by them, but those who do understand will be in the best position to help direct them or resist them!

This is the most extraordinary time ever to be alive, to know the Lord and serve Him in these times is possibly the greatest privilege that has ever been offered to any man or woman – and it has been offered to you! However, with the great privilege comes great responsibility, and with great opportunities have come great difficulties. In fact, it is probable that there has never been any more difficult time to be in ministry than now because much of the church has been sinking under the influence of the humanistic forces she tried to influence when she should have taken a bold stand against them.

When we say humanism, it is belief in human-based morality, a system of thought that is based on the values, characteristics, and behavior that are believed to be best in human beings, rather than on any supernatural authority, it is equal with atheism; to believe there is no God! Another difficulty the church faces today is Socialism. It is a system that conditions people to depend on government to meet their needs. This can be tolerable at first, but as the people gradually lose their sense of personal responsibility, the government starts to get blamed for every problem, and demands are put upon it to meet every need and want of the people.

Many have come to believe that this is true with the church, that when the church go to them to share the gospel and offer some material help, they interpret it as the church will supply all their needs – this is religious socialism! The church is here to restore their relationship with God; the church is here not to meet the needs of the people, but to connect them to the only One who can truly meet their needs! This does not negate acts of charity which are indeed fundamental to Christianity, however, there is a line by which we must not cross, or we will end in the very thing we did not want in the first place – socialism!

 Eph 3:16-19 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

If you are a Christian, then “you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

There is no greater honor to be found on this earth, than to be a minister of Jesus Christ, and every Christian is called to this ministry, you are the true nobility! You not only have access to the King of Kings, but you have been sent into this world as His ambassador to carry His own Words and to convey His purpose – that is a greater honor than to be an emissary of any king or president!

Because communication between a king and his ambassador could take months or even years, those chosen for such a position were the most faithful, loyal friends of the king, they had to be of one mind with their leader because they would likely have to make many decisions in his name and for his kingdom! A man inclined to speak his own mind and own opinions could never be an ambassador! He had to know the mind of his king, and be utterly faithful to represent only his interest! We are called to be an ambassador of the Greatest King – it is an incomprehensible honor, but it likewise carries the greatest of responsibilities!

Because loyalty and faithfulness were so critical, it was the practice of potentates to recall ambassadors only after two or three years of service to a country. They feared that if an emissary stayed away longer, he might become too sympathetic with the nation to which he had been sent, and be prone to compromise the interests of his homeland. But our calling is permanent and irrevocable, the only time God calls us to go home is when we have already completed our purpose – that’s when we die and go to heaven!

Rom 11:29  For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. KJV

We must guard our hearts from becoming more sympathetic to the interest of this present age than to the interest of Christ! No wonder Jesus gave Peter the most terrible rebuke recorded in the Bible:

Matt 16:23  But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."  NKJV

This is still the way Satan injects his schemes into the church – when we set our minds on the interests of men and not of God! As ambassadors of Christ, our first devotion must always be to have His perspective, when we fear men, when we please men, we will be prone to misrepresent the Kingdom of God!

The QUESTION we ask is, how do we do it? To perform this great task to which we have been called, the Lord has given us each a Gift of power beyond our understanding: the HOLY SPIRIT! There is more power resident in the newest believer than there is in all the armies of the earth combined!

1 Cor 3:16  Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?

The Power that created the world lives inside of you, this is the same power that performed the greatest miracles in the Bible: stopping the sun, parting seas, raising the dead, that power is in you! Therefore, we have the potential to do the same works, and according to the Lord Jesus Himself, “even greater works!”

James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. NKJV

We are all as close to God as we want to be!  Moses talked with God face to face just as a man talks to his friend; as inconceivable as it may seem, we have been called to something even greater. God spoke to Moses face to face, but He has come to live IN YOU!

2 Cor 3:7-8  Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

The Glory that we are supposed to be experiencing should be greater than what Moses experienced, and he had to put a veil over his face because of the Glory!  The only reason we are not walking in this Glory is maybe because we don’t want to! We can all be as close to God as we want to be, the ministry of the Spirit is supposed to be with even more glory!

The scripture is clear, in the last days, before the end comes, there will be churches that will be walking in the glory and purity of Christ – why not us? Why not now? What do we have to do that is greater than running the race, taking our course, to be a part of the high calling of God which is CHRISTLIKENESS, nothing! His light will shine upon the earth through the church, through you His ambassadors!

Isa 60:1-2 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

The bible is clear, when darkness covers the earth, the Lord is going to be so close to His people that His Glory will actually appear upon them just like it did in Moses! We are coming to those times, and only the foolish will wait for the darkness to cover them before they get close to the Lord! Once the storms had begun, it will be too late to build your house on the Rock; once the Bridegroom has called, it will be too late to find oil for your lamps! We have been given the greatest of callings, the greatest of opportunities – we are sons and daughters of the Most High GOD!

How many of the Christians today, have traded their son ship for a bowl of soup as Esau did? How many traded it for something even less? How many have wasted their time on worldly things instead of spending it before the throne of Grace? Wasted time is wasted life! Time without purpose is life without meaning!

Heb 4:1-2 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2 For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.

Faith is not just to have intellectual ascent or knowledge of the things of God, but faith is the marriage of belief and trust that grows stronger in every obedience that we do! The gospel, the good news preached to us would lead us to enter Gods rest; a place of perfect peace, and perfect rest, and that place is simply “doing the will of God!” King David knew he could not find rest for himself until the Lord had a permanent place to dwell – we will find our rest when we become His dwelling place!

One of the primary characteristics for greatness is constancy of purpose, those who know their purpose and set their hearts upon it without deviating from its course; they are the ones who dictated the course of history – for good or evil! If you are a Christian, called by God, then your potential destiny is greater than that of any conqueror, or emperor, and it is for good! What could be more important than giving you to that destiny – NOTHING! You need to focus on your purpose with such a clear, biblical vision, so you will be able to maintain the constancy  required to accomplish all that you were called to do on this earth!

Eph 1:18-19  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
